Project Description

Devil’s Lake Rock Climbing

CLASSIC MIDWEST CLIMBING

About this Trip

The West Bluffs tower high above Devils Lake State Park located near Baraboo, Wisconsin. Devils Lake Rock Climbing is unlike any other trip in the Northpoint Adventures series, as it offers participants a full day of professionally guided rock climbing on features such as Porkchop Buttress, Split Tower, and Double Chimney. Climbing at Devils Lake is some of the best in the Midwest, and when you add great food, your best friends, adrenaline-inducing heights, and stunning views from the top into the mix, it makes an especially memorable three-day experience. The focus of the trip is the full day of climbing, flanked on each side by a 1/2 day of travel to southern Wisconsin and car-camping “frontcountry” overnights at Devils Lake State Park. Included in the adventure are swimming in the lake itself, fun campfires and s’mores, and the rolling landscapes of southern Wisconsin.

Details

Devils Lake Rock Climbing is professionally guided and facilitated by Apex Adventure Alliance, LLC of Madison, Wisconsin who provides all instruction, safety briefing, helmets, climbing shoes, harnesses, ropes, and other essential gear. Experienced Northpoint Adventures trip leaders, certified in 1st Aid/CPR and Lifeguarding accompany the group and facilitate an outstanding “frontcountry” experience. The trip teaches Leave No Trace ethics, good personal and group conduct in public places and when working with professional guides, the importance of listening to instruction, encouragement of fellow trippers, and pushes participants out of their comfort zones – especially if one has nerves about heights. No climbing experience is necessary, as guides recommend and facilitate climbs suitable to all abilities.
